/KASE, April 24, 12/ - BTA Bank (Almaty), bonds of which are officially listed on Kazakhstan Stock Exchange (KASE), provided to KASE the following press release of April 23, 2012:

Today, BTA Bank (hereinafter - the Bank) announced suspension of all payments on its bonds for recovery, the initial aggregate basic amounts of which makes up 5 billion 221 million 494 thousand 216 US dollars.

The Bank believes that the suspension of these payments is in the best interests of its creditors generally and that it would not be appropriate to make payments in respect of the Recovery Units when BTA has not paid amounts due on the Bank's Senior Notes and while discussions continue with stakeholders on the financial restructuring of the Bank.
